Family Friendly Rancho Bernardo is nestled on the Interstate 15 just south of Hodge Reservoir and between the San Pasqual Valley. Rancho Bernardo is primarily a fifty-five and over master-planned community located in the northern hills of the city of San Diego, California. Rancho Bernardo is a masterfully planned community. Located within the city limits are a variety of shopping malls, parks, golf courses, clubs, preschools, middle schools and a high school.The area that encompasses Rancho Bernardo is approximately 6,511 acres.

 

A Family Friendly Rancho Bernardo that is situated so closely to a major Interstate, is called an “Edge City.” This is a term that originated in the United States for its concentration of business, shopping and entertainment outside what is considered a traditional downtown in what has been previously been called a residential or rural area.

 

The economy is Rancho Bernardo community is booming, being the fifth largest submarket in San Diego County outside downtown. With a major center of employment, Rancho Bernardo is home to Corporate Headquarters to Sony Electronics, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, and Amazon to name a few.

 

Outside of these major employers, is The Bernardo Winery. One of the oldest wineries located in San Diego County. Established and founded by The Rizzo Family in 1889 has been making wine from locally sourced grapes located on their vineyard. The Bernardo Winery also produces Cold Pressed Virgin Olive Oil from the many olive trees that are located on the property.

 

There is no denying that there is a lot to do in Rancho Bernardo. The city is so active and lively they also have a high demand for tourist. There is an annual carnival-type street fair called, RB Alive!, that happens every year during the summer. RB Alive started in 1988, started and remained as an Expo offering a full day of entertainment and enjoyment. With over 300 booths featuring arts and crafts, kid zone, cultural center, classic car show and much more.

 

Rancho Bernardo Community is primarily a retirement community; however, a younger demographic is moving into the community to raise their children and be closer to their family. Theses families are enrolling their children in the award-winning Poway unified school district as early as preschool.
