The Oceanside Pier was built in 1888 and is the longest wooden pier on the California coast. Expanding 1941 feet, 1/3 of a mile into the Pacific Ocean, a piece of history sits on this coastline. Take a walk down the historical Oceanside Pier and enjoy breathtaking views while watching the waves roll in.
Filled with history and charm, the Oceanside Pier truly offers a diverse assortment of activities for all to enjoy. The pier is a popular fishing spot, with a convenience store half way out, stuffed into a 7×15 space with fishing pole rentals, bait and tackle. Located at the end of the pier is the iconic Ruby’s 50 diner with breakfast to burgers and a spectacular view.
Relax in the sun and watch the surfers catch a wave. Surfing is also very popular on both the North and South sides of the pier. With a beach break that has a very reliable surf makes for optim
um conditions. The boardwalk along the coastline also makes for a great path to ride your bike while you take in the ocean views.
Night fall near the pier also offers a lot of entertainment as the Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater is located north of the pier. The amphitheater is a local landmark named after Junior Seau, a professional football player and hometown hero to Oceanside. With so much to offer tourist and residence alike, Oceanside is a place to visit it at least once in everyone’s lifetime.
