On The REAL Podcast, we sat down with San Clemente’s number one leading real estate agents, Doug Echelberger. The surname Echelberger is no stranger to the real estate industry. The Echelberger family has been in real estate since the early 1970’s.

Doug hails from a family of trusted real estate professionals who have, for the last twenty-five years, owned and operated a local brokerage, San Clemente Real Estate. In the early 90’s, Doug’s parents decided to retire, and with the help of Doug, they sold the company to his employer at the time.

Doug was born and raised in San Clemente but moved away during college to attend University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. When Doug graduated, he ventured into sales however he always felt a calling to real estate. The idea of some pretty decent commission checks swayed him into re-thinking the thought of following in his parents footsteps. Shortly some time thereafter, in the early 90’s, Doug committed to building a career in real estate. Even though this time wasn’t favorable for real estate as it was during a foreclosure market, Doug felt an irresistible calling to become a San Clemente Realtor.  

While working with a then partner Robert Freyou, Doug was heavily involved in short sales. Although doing a lot of volume during this period, Doug quickly found a niche market in his hometown of San Clemente.

Over the last twenty-five years, Doug has acquired a vast amount of knowledge by being involved with an array of transactions such as REO’s, probate, short sales, bankruptcy transactions, divorce sales, income property and leases. Doug really attributes his success to his diverse real estate knowledge as well as his work ethic. He is truly a master at his craft.

Along with the help and efforts of his wife, Tracy Echelberger, Doug founded Echelberger Group in 2011. Currently, The Echelberger Group is made up of six real estate agents, a transaction coordinator, two marketing agents and an executive assistant. Together they have grossed over one hundred million in sales consistently since the company’s inception. In 2018, The Echelberger Group partnered with Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty. Being a partner with Pacific Sotheby’s, has made it easy for him and his team to provide their clients with a truly rewarding experience.
