If you’ve been thinking about buying a home, but haven’t done it yet, you need to ask yourself why? What is holding you back? Many people are daunted by the thought of purchasing a home in overinflated markets like California and New York. But don’t fret—the American Dream is still alive and well if you’re willing to look beyond your current city. Let’s dive into what options are available for those looking to buy a home outside of the expensive coastal states.

Hidden Gems Across the Country
The great thing about America is that it offers so much diversity in terms of culture, climate, and cost of living. If you’re looking for an affordable option, there are many hidden gems across the country that boast enough job opportunities and great schools while keeping costs low. Take Davenport, Iowa as an example. Despite its small size, this city in the Quad Cities metro area has plenty of job opportunities and excellent schools. I recently stumbled across a 4 bedroom property there for only $65,000! That would be nearly impossible to find in California or New York City.

What Else Should You Consider When House Hunting?
In addition to finding an affordable housing market, there are several other factors that you should consider when house hunting outside of your current city. First off, consider how far away from family and friends you will be willing to move. Distance can make it hard to maintain relationships with those that matter most in your life. Additionally, research job opportunities within the area before making any commitments—you want to make sure there will be ample employment opportunities once you move. Lastly, take into account the local climate; if extreme weather conditions (too hot or too cold) don’t jive with your lifestyle then this may not be the right place for you after all!

At the end of the day, it all comes down to whether or not moving away from your current city makes sense for your lifestyle and budget. If so, then stop making excuses and get out there and explore different markets around America where homeownership is still attainable! The American Dream is still alive—you just have to know where to look!
