Solana Beach is an idyllic coastal community in North San Diego County, located just north of Del Mar and South of Cardiff.
What I love about Solana Beach is the small town feel and the eclectic blend of homes.
On the west side of the freeway, there is a mix of homes starting around 500K for a townhome all the way up to multiple millions for a house with an ocean view. On the east side of the freeway there are great neighborhoods with generous lots, rolling hills and/or ocean views.
A big draw to Solana Beach is of course the beach. For starters, you have Fletcher Cove beach park right in the center of town. It’s a great place to enjoy the day with a picnic or a swim, paddle or surf in the ocean.
Head further north and you will find Seaside Reef. This is a great place to watch world class surfers do what they do best.
Solana Beach also boasts some of the best coastal bike riding scenery in the county. Any way you look at it, Solana Beach really is an outdoor enthusiast’s playground.
Golf fans can often be found at the Loma Sante Fe Country Club, which offers two courses, both with sweeping ocean views, wide fairways and rolling hills. The Loma Sante Fe Country Club offers members access to the pool, clubhouse, tennis courts, day spa and social events throughout the year. It is a great place for locals to connect and spend the weekend.
Another favorite gathering place is the Cedros Design district, located on Cedros Street, just south of Lomas Santa Fe Drive. This vibrant design area has tons of art galleries, shops and custom-designed furniture stores. You will also find many quaint restaurants tucked away and the local favorite, Culture Brewing Company which serves up locally made craft beers. Also in the district is the Belly Up, an intimate concert venue that brings both big names and break out local acts to the stage.
For those with families, the Solana beach school district is one of the top rated in the county; just one more attribute of this great coastal community.
With only 13,000 people, this coastal town is small enough to have that beach feel, but it offers much more than you could ever imagine.
